Double Page Spread

Made another layout with my CFC kit, this time a double pager! We were in Florence Oregon and the boys rented quads and went out into the sand dunes for some fun. They had a great time, although it was a bit worrysome at the time! Krysten and I went into town and had a look around there, what a great little village. Maybe get back there one day.

Here’s the left side.

And the right. I used up all those little screw looking brads on this layout so that was great to do!

And yes, that’s old Cosmo Cricket gears and cogs you see there. Apparently I hoard it 🙂

Finally a layout!

Here is the first layout I’ve made with this months CFC  kit. March seems to be flying by far faster than I expected, and my scrappy time seems to be less this month. Oh well, still a page done, I’m happy about that.

The kit that wasn’t

Its March, time for a new kit over at Counterfeit Kit Challenge, yay! Such an exciting day, I always look forward to seeing what the new one will be, and taking my time picking out my own kit.  This month they are counterfeiting this kit from a Piece of Cake Designs.

And here is what I came up with. First the papers.

My kit was set. All ready to go. Except…… I didn’t like it. Not inspired in the least bit. Didn’t want to do anything with it.

That’s not good.

So after thinking it over, I thought, you know what, I’m going to put it all back and make a new one. Yes, yes I am. I mean its my stuff, no rule saying I can only make one right. And the point is to USE my stuff. So this morning I took it all apart. Then with luck, over at the CKC their bonus is tips for building a kit! I had my coffee and went through everyones blog, reading their hints and tips and checking out their kits. Then I made a new one.

I used these papers instead. I’m aqua’d and pink’d out. Don’t get me wrong, I love those colours but it feels like its all we’ve been doing for the last year in the scrapbook world. Last month I loved my kit and I think its because I enjoyed using orange as a colour, which actually was a colour for this month, but I had just used it.

And again I added extra papers.

I also was not feeling the florals. Again, I have a zillion flowers to use up but they are hard for me, and I had just used some the last few months, so I decided to take a break from them.  One of the suggestions, I’m sorry I forget by who, was to make a kit that inspires YOU, its your kit. That’s what I’ve done. No florals, no aqua, no pink and the orange I traded for red. Then I added embellies.

Some things I kept, those stickers and the cork tags, some things I won’t use all of but I’ll use some. I replaced ribbon with washi, and my 6×6 pad this month is Amy Tangerine. I’m trying to put one in each month. I’ve put leftover bits and pieces in there and a sheet of rub ons again and I am much more inspired by this kit.

Thanks again to everyone over at CKC for their time and ideas. I tried to take a piece of what everyone said and put it into my kit, and if I can use some of this up, yay! At least I’m inspired now.

One more along these lines

One more in this bright sunshiney colour scheme. Mostly because I love that foil paper and wanted to use every last bit of I could. I’m thrilled to have finished it up. I’ve also had that butterfly for years and so to get that on a page is great.

Choose to be Happy

These pictures of Abby just seem to go so well with this, it looks like she’s smiling, laying there enjoying the sun. Again, I ran out of paper so added this piece of Bo Bunny to create this layout. The rest of the items I had. Clearly next month I need to add more paper lol.

Oh look at Abby

Another page done with my kit this month, Abby sitting outside enjoying the sunshine. She loves to sit there, until she gets too hot, silly girl. I used a different colour than I normally would, but I actually quite like it, the orangey yellow works well for sunshine shots.

I actually didn’t add enough paper to my kit so I had to add some to do this layout. The gold foil stripe and all the embellishments I had but the heart paper and the background paper I added. And yes, that is old Sassafrass! I still love it.

CKC Challenge #1

The challenge was to use something transparent on your layout. I used my sheet of vellum, well what was left of it, behind the text paper as another mat. I also used a few sequins (the pink flower shaped ones) down on the bottom cluster. I am down to scraps on my vellum sheet now, and used the chipboard frame pieces I pulled, so happy to get those used as well. Yes, those are old magnolia rub ons, good to get them used too.

First layout with Feb’s kit

Here is the first layout I have created with my February kit. A beautiful picture is such easy inspiration to get scrapping. I’m pretty happy I used up every single one of those daisy flowers on this layout! They are very old, and I hoarded them for awhile for sure, but now, its past the time to let them go and I quite like the way they look on here.

I used the cloud embellishments I had too and also used the velum in behind the picture so I’m pleased. Its nice to get some stash stuff used.

Counterfeit Kit 2015

I did actually make a counterfeit kit last month, but just never got around to posting anything. I do like to play along, but sometimes I just can’t seem to find the time to post!  Oh well, onto February. I will “try” harder this year to stay up to date, (try is my olw for 2015) and get things posted.

The orginal kit is from Scrapbook.com and has a travel theme to it.

Even though I have lots of travel pictures to do, my theme isn’t going to be travel. It just didn’t seem to work with the supplies I had.  Here are my basic papers.

then I added the label stickers, some sequins, the journal cards, and the ephemera pack. I’m not sure I added all 111 pieces! but I did include some cardstock and acetate pieces since the original kit had that.

I added the flair, and one small white plastic alpha that I need to use. I just don’t use my alpha stickers and have to try hard to use them up, so I may add more as I go along. I also added flowers. Hmmm. Now don’t get me wrong, flowers are lovely. I buy them. I don’t use them. I’m not hoarding them, I just don’t use them. Soooooo I picked out some flowers and I’m going to try very hard to use them. And then I’m not going to buy anymore, lol.

I’m trying to add a 6×6 pad to every kit so I’ve added that as well, and some liquid pearls, some stamps, washi, and a few bits of ribbon to use up.

So back to a bigger kit again this month but I’m ok with that. I’m happy to be getting stuff done and into albums. I hope you play along this month as well!

First layout with my CKC kit

Here is the first layout I made.

It is from years ago, but again, that doesn’t matter. I am just so happy to be getting stuff done! Now see that little brown embellishement on the bottom right corner on the tag, that’s the naked chipboard square. Yes it is too. I painted it, then added a sticker to it and voila, another piece used up. AND I also used my flowers on this page, both of them! I did add in the frame, it was really hard to see my daughters little face in the pic, so the frame just brings more attention to it. Hard to see in these pics I know.
So have you tried a counterfeit kit yet? I think you should.
